March's Column
Longing For Green
What a difference a year makes! I can feel lighter moods, easier smiles and actually see a little green here and there. Of course most of the green is in the form of weeds, but I’ll take it! I love green, from a color psychology point of view it is a soothing color palette and the color selected by most geniuses. Over 17 years ago, when we first opened our business on Howard Avenue, we painted the walls a shade of green. We have been discussing the need to repaint, after the storm everyone is trying to fix up a little. So what color do we keep coming back to….green! I guess the general lack of the color in our outdoor landscapes has made this a color I can’t seem to live without. .
I hope you like this month’s selection of green things by the many talented artists across the coast. From sage to lime they are all divine! March is all about clover, leprechauns, green beer, Easter egg hunts and being surrounded by Mother Nature and all her glorious green!
Each precious branch of every precious tree, the ancient oaks spread their leaves to blanket my sky with shade.
I see now each precious limb of so many twisted and scared; arms up as if to say, “Come to my aid”.
The blades of grass and all green are stripped away; miles of sky do I see only blue, no emerald and jade.

It will be featured in Gulf Coast Observer. Papers go out in heavily trafficed areas in your cities. Here in Biloxi you can find them at the Schooner restaurant and City Hall. In Ocean Springs in front of Hillyer House and Bayview Gourmet. At all Walmarts, Chambers and Casinos.
Leslie,
This is the format I have been asking for from the artists. I am theming each month to kind of go with the season so that it is timely and appropriate for what most people might be shopping for.
November is Thankful
December is Spiritual
January is Sweet (hearts, sugar bowl)
February is Masked
March is Green
April is Mississippi and Magnolias
May is Mother and Child
June is Hitched
July is Red, White and Blue Country
August is Water
This is my year of what I have planned if all goes ok.
I am asking if they have submissions that they strictly send me a link not a photo. My email is too slow. But mostly I am working from the websites and seeing whose work will fit into these themes.
Format
Phone Val for her email address - 228-374-8427. Once you have that, you can send her a link of your work (not an attachment, dial up is too slow!) If it works into one of these months, she will ask you to submit a .jpg to Cheli at the Coastal Observer. Label your email to Val (the Subject Line) with your name - both business (if you have one) and personal name and Valerie's Gallery/Month (month you wish to have your work highlighted).
In the body of your email, add the following:
"Title of piece"
Description and medium used
Created by (your name)
Available at (contact info for where it is sold address, phone, web, etc...)
5 sentence paragraph biography of you and your work.
