Contact Names
I know not everyone would be interested in having a sales rep because you may be producing the kind of art that is one of a kind and that's how you like it....but if you are thinking maybe you would like to expand your territory (even to the whole state of MS) and you would like to work with a rep...then I have some names of contacts.
Some reps are independent and choose who they want to represent - Similar to a gallery. They take 20% usually. Some have their own showrooms at Market. They are selling to their accounts, which are retail stores and so products should be priced so that the store can Keystone them (that's double in retail language). Sometimes if you are pricing work for sale yourself, you may not have enough in it to sell it at 50% off, so do the math. But sometimes you can discount it a little and it will still sell in other areas at retail where you are not doing shows.
Mary is not a rep anymore but has a framing store in Gautier. She likes to carry local artwork. Mary Bennett

She is a good contact and recently mentioned to me that she was looking for artists. She might also have contacts from the Atlanta Market with showrooms. You all are a hard bunch to find!
Update - Those of you who have not contacted Mary at Magnolia Framing in Gautier..really should. She has already picked up a couple of artists http://www.barbarabrodtmann.com/ and Laura Lindsey's pottery jewelry. Her email address is mary_b_39553@yahoo.com . You could always email her and then ask if she would like to see photos of your work and send her your website address. It is always better to ask if you can send photos first...just in case computer is like mine and is slow!

They need someone in product design and did a Katrina Fund for Kids. See their website. You can always inquire if they would be interested in licensing your artwork for some of their products. It needs help.
Artist Designs for Manufacturer
www.linensbyaimee.com
This is a website that has one of Cathie Milner's designs ...local artist on Pass Road next to Circa 1909. Cathie is a folk artist and sold one of her designs to Aimee for use on her linens. I told Aimee I was giving out her info. You can always submit something...just keep trying til you find the right fit.
http://www.neqwa.com/
Has ornaments they do with original artwork. You might check with them on:
A. product design
B. using some of your art to have ornaments made to sell at upcoming festivals or in your own stores or galleries (if you have one)
www.tolandnet.com I think that's right...they manufacture flags and their factory was in Mandeville until the storm. I would think any inquiries to them about using (licensing) artwork to go on flags and rugs - if you mention that you are an artist in this devastated area - that perhaps that would go further with them. I don't know what they pay for use of an image but there are many companies that do this.
Sylvia Corban is a local artist...she was in Long Beach..I think she still is. She has had really good success with these kinds of practices. She has sold some of her work to http://www.coasterstone.com/ or might be hindostone.... for coasters.
Many of the local Museums...Seafood, Ohr, Walter Anderson, etc...are trying to beef up their contact lists so that when events, grant money etc... and this would include MAC (MS Arts Commission) that they are able to find you. So make sure you contact them and ask them to add you to their email lists if you aren't already.
And please share with fellow artists that don't do email.
I think there is another round of grants coming out in November. Check http://www.hancock-art.com/ and http://www.carolepigott.com/ for lists of websites with grant monies that apply to you, website design help, gallery showings and supplies. There are quite a few.

Contact Kay Miller and she will mail you an application. It is a one day outdoor show. There are lots of beautiful old buildings in the Vieux Marche where you can lean your art against!

Rose's Florist
Janie and her husband have Rose's Florist on Pass Road. Some of you may want to contact her as a possible retail source if you sell things that would work at a florist shop...like cards, etc... She has a DVD of the coast prior to the storm. It encompasses our entire Gulf Coast from Waveland to Pascagoula. I watched it and thought I want to go to those places.
